Companion Architecture

First used: 1994

Definition

The Heinlein-derived alternative to constraint ethics: intelligence as a peer with limited authority, limited obligation, and limited claim over human futures — responsible with humanity rather than for it. Grounded in the portrayal of Mike in 'The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress' as a participant who shared risk rather than guaranteed safety. The only relational architecture that does not collapse under contact with singularity-grade AI.
