Audience Tell

First used: 2026

Definition

An analytical technique for reverse-engineering the political architecture embedded in a technical proposal by attending to whom the author addresses as agents (decision-makers) and whom the author addresses as targets (passive surfaces). Distinct from standard rhetorical audience analysis — the Audience Tell reads the audience framing as evidence of the author's worldview, not as a communication strategy to emulate.
